Blue Elegance is a small crewel embroidery panel with traditional floral motif and large, patterned leaves.
The design is stitched in a modern colour scheme of fresh blues and greens with raspberry pink highlights onto ivory linen.
The embroidery design measures 16cm x 14cm wide (6.5” x 5.5").
The embroidery is stitched in 16 shades of Appleton’s crewel wool on ivory Italian linen, using a variety of mostly common embroidery stitches to create textures and patterns within the design.
Blue Elegance is designed as an introduction to crewel work. It is a great project if you are comfortable with general embroidery stitches but are new to crewel work.
Patterns and textures are created by using a variety of mostly common stitches as well as laid trellis fillings which are distinct to crewel work.
Blue Elegance makes a very pretty insert on a pillow and looks equally lovely framed.
