Description
Major Mitchell is a cross stitch pattern.
The Major Mitchell Cockatoo, also known as the Pink Cockatoo or Leadbeather's cockatoo Cacatua leadbeaterie, is considered the most beautiful cockatoo in Australia. It is rather rare. Although it's range is under dispute it does frequent the semi-desert areas such as the mallee, scrub and timbered borders of streams.
The Major Mitchell nests in tree hollows between September and December. The diet consists of larvae, roots, seeds, grasshopper and locust eggs. The female has more yellow and less red in the crest.
Others in the series: Sulphur Crested, Sulphur Crested 2 and Palm Cockatoo.
