Steampunk is a retrofuturistic science fiction fashion, inspired by technical aspects of the 19th century industrial revolution, its technology and in particular the steam engine.
No wonder Barbara Ana, both fascinated by foxes and by the late 19th century, decided to explore the theme in her very own way, also including some of her other leitmotifs which fans will surely identify.
The cross stitch pattern is worked on a wonderful 28ct damask needlework fabric designed by Fabric Flair. It has an evanescent floral pattern evocative of steam, that changes with the light and orientation of the viewer, making the pattern come to life. You could naturally substitute it with any light/medium natural fabric of your choice or a piece of hand-dyed fabric. Make sure you leave plenty of space above the design if you are using the damask fabric, so there is extra room in the frame for the fabric to show.
Steampunk Fox was stitched on 28 count Vintage Ephemera Damask Evenweave from Fabric Flair using two strand of DMC over two threads of linen.
Stitch count is 118w x 101h.
