Minoan Mermaid by Avlea Folk Embroidery

In traditional folk embroidery, particularly that from the island of Crete, mermaids and other mythical creatures abound.  This stately mermaid is depicted holding a leafy frond in either hand and is worked in a traditional colour palette of red, blue, gold and green.

This design is stitched on 26 count Traditional Ground cloth.
