Au Ver Soie D'Alger

Soie D'Alger is a stunning range of stranded silk. It is a stranded Spun silk with 7 plies, which are easily divided. Soft, lustrous and smooth, it is made from a spun silk called "strusas" which gives it unrivaled regularity for hand embroidery. It does not come from Algeria, the name "Alger" refers to a specialised domestic manufacturing process.

With a colour palette of over 600 colours in 107 Shade families, there is a colour to suit any hand embroidery project. These threads are a delight to stitch with, sliding smoothly through fabric.

We carry the full range of D'alger silks.

Packaged in 5 meter skeins.  Made in France by Au Ver A Soie, a family business, since the late 19th century. Skeins are dyed in the traditional method to guarantee even, consistent coloration.
